Why does my DS never get chickenpox?

DD and DS1 have both had it. DS2 has been exposed to it many, many times but still has not contracted. CP. Whilst I would not send him to a CP party or anything like that, I really wish that he'd had it over and done with by now. He is 6 and a girl in his class and her sister who are our neighbours have both just had it and been in school whilst contagious in a close up and cuddly Reception/Y1 class.

I recall my father getting CP when I did aged about 7 and he was VERY ill. It is my understanding that as an adult it can be pretty bad and so it would, I presume, be A Good Thing for him to get it in childhoood, yes?

Another one with a ten year old that hasn't had it. Or, I think is more likely, he has had it so mildly we just thought it was a cold/viral infection (obvs with no spots).

I worry about him getting it when he is older and it's more dangerous. Having said that, I didn't realise how serious the complications of cp are, no matter what age you get it.

He's due a gp appointment soon, I might ask about the jab.

I didn't despite my dsis having it and various friends including best friends having it at various times over school. I got it at college aged 20 when no one else had it. Confused I had it badly too.

I didn't have it as a child - although was exposed regularly. Also didn't catch it as an adult when exposed - until I was pregnant. I caught it then - luckily at the safest point in pregnancy to get it and got a mild case.
