which contains mild potency topical corticosteriod, i find it brilliant stuff as prescribed from the docts as 8/10 the Eczema had cleared up as mainly on her arms esp on her elbows and arm joints, armpits, on outside of her ankles, front and back of her knees, and her back, so its mainly wheres all her sweat spots are. Ive been using this cream for a while now about a year (my dd2 is 20m) and i do try put it on twice a day or average once a day. But once she goes swimming, it flares all up again!! and its back to square one (and same with her bath).

I do moistures her body every 2 days, as her body feels dry too with Diprobase cream Emollient.

Am i not putting enough on using both? as the lipocream is twice a day and Diprocream is once a day.

i need to have a go with her having an oats bath with oats.

How long do i carry on putting the mildison lipocream on?...till she outgrown the Eczema? It all started off when i put johnsons oil on her body when she was about 4 months old and since then she had probs with her skin.

many thanks

My DD also has a hydrocortisone cream. But we've now managed to only use it when the patches flare up, and the cream brings it down again.
It sounds like you're maybe having to use it more ongoing. Maybe go back to the GP as it if you're using it everyday for a year, it doesn't sound like the % she's got is clearing up the eczema enough.
The thing is the cream isn't good for the skin, so it's good if it can just be used to bring down flare ups.

I use Aveeno cream on DD the rest of the time, and that's been pretty good at preventing the eczema.

And you can put some sort of barrier cream on before swimming.

well ive just read big label on the Diprobase and it said that it can be use before bath..how long is before? an hour? ( will also have a go before swimming too as the chlorine kicks it off).

Yes i know the mildison cream isnt good for their skin as it thinned out their skin but ive done it twice now when her skin is very good i give the mildison cream a break for a week and its not so bad then.

Aveeno is what you buy from supermarkets am i right?

Yes, just the shop stuff. I tried it when I read several threads on here of others saying how good it was. And many have been able to get the GP to put it on prescription too.

I used to smother ds2 in diprobase just before he got in the bath. Literally rub it on so he was white all over then chuck him in the water.

I used to rub him gently with my hands to wash him as flannels were too harsh and irritated him. The diprobase can be used as a soap substitute too - rub it all over while she's in the water.

It does make the bath a bit manky - never leave wiping it down and rinsing it out til the following morning - but it kept ds2's skin under control and stopped the constant flare ups. I also found that limiting baths to twice a week at the most, usually only once also meant he didn't have as many flare ups. A muslin dampened with water got rid of the worst of the mess in between times.

Personally, I'd use the diprobase twice a day on the eczema places, once a day on the rest of her and try to keep the mildison for when she's having a flare up.

A slightly stronger steroid such as Eumovate might be better at actually clearing the eczema rather than keeping it dampened down so you could spend 2 or 3 days using the steroid then manage it with just diprobase.

im gonna have a go putting the diprobase on dd2 before she gets into the bath. what about swimming, is there any other cream barrier i can use without wrecking the swimming baths water!

as im all new to this, can u tell?

We just used to put the diprobase on before swimming . TBH, it didn't make much difference because he reacted really badly to the chlorine. His eczema has been pretty good for the last year or so but swimming is the one thing that is guaranteed to set it off.

Eczema is a PITA because it's all about trial and error with creams and steroids and working out what other triggers there are. DS2 appears to be very sensitive to some washing powders and an unknown ingredient in suncream and certain moisturisers.

I'm hoping he'll grow out of it at some point soon .
