DD aged 3 - teeth - dentists - need advise

My DD aged 3 (4 in oct) fell over last year and chipped her front tooth in half - thats now fine (ish, well its grey) but since then she has had a black mark on her back molar which the dentist said was probable weakened by the fall and bang.

Any hoo - its now a massive hole (which has got bigger in the last week) and DD is complaining it hurts.

So we are off to the dentist this week. How do I get my very clingy not very happy with strangers DD to sit and have her teeth looked at, let alone filled?

If the dentist cant do it, what will happen.

I dont want her to be traumatised or in pain

Also, can some one please make me feel better, as I feel shit about it tbh, really horrid on her part as I have terrible teeth, and I feel guilty.

don*t worry it will be fine!
talk to the doc beforehand, most likely there will be sedation and local anasthaetic (sp).
in the meantime you can practice by playing at home.
unfortunately you will have to go through it now or it will only get worse.

I think they would try without sedation first, and then maybe refer on if they couldn't do it..this is rare though, they will be VERY experienced, I work for a dentist, most kids eventually are OK and get the work done.

and virtually no child is happy to get a filling, if you think about it.

ds had bad tooth pain a few weeks ago. i took him to dentist saying nothing could possibly be worse than the pain he was in (waking up screaming).

there's a big cavity in his molar, the dentist filled it with resin and it will either work until adult tooth comes in or he'll need an extraction.

so far it is ok so i am hopeful, really don't want him to have tooth out as i am worried about future jaw shape, he looks to have similar teeth to me ie a little crowded.
