Circumcision Advice

My DS (10) was circumcised about 10 days ago due to lifelong problems in the pant area. He has been unable to go back to school today after half term, because it's still sore, (he says) and he can't wear fitted school trousers yet.

Any idea how long this might take? I've noticed he's managing to turn onto his front when he's asleep now, so how bad can it be?

I'm thinking of just sending him back in tracky bottoms and asking that he misses PE/Playtime etc for a few days. I'm not sure how much it really hurts, and how much he's playing me like a violin!

Would feel really bad if he went back too soon and someone bashed into him in the playground. (Wicked heartless mother emoticon).

Any experience of this?

Yes! Ds2 was done at the same age.

Keep on with the calpol, as much as is allowed. We gave up Judo on the back of a circumcision and no pe for as long as he could get away with.

We did try a cricket box as protection but it wasn't a great success.

Bloody hell! We've got alot in common!

I thought about a cricket box but I wasn't sure it wouldn't just make it worse. It needs to breath doesn't it? We've colluded with school to say he's had a hernia op when he misses PE, as he's very embarrassed at the moment an doesn't want his classmates to know - he thinks they'll tease him, or bash him there on purpose for a 'laugh.'

Having said that, we've come across so many boys who've had this (not as newborns) that he's brightening up no end about it, and feeling like part of a club.
