Can hayfever give them a cough

or is it just a cold.

Both DSs have been coughing for weeks now. I took DS2 to the doctor but she said his chest was clear. It sounds like a chesty cough but has a sort of retching quality to it.

Both DSs are miserable at the moment and can't sleep but that might be just the heat.

DS2 (16 months) coughs so hard he makes himself sick.

Could it be hayfever? It seems worse tonight and we have been out all day then DH cut the grass.

It could be hayfever, could also be just a horrid cough. Or, I discovered a few years ago, it could be worms. (puke)

urgh

How on earth do worms make you cough (and how do you know)

eeew, my dd has a cough that I assumed might be hayfever. Better not be worms.

belgo · 05/06/2010 20:25

yes, could be the mucus going down his throat making him cough and be sick.

All three of mine are coughing now, started with DD and then the DSs started. DD was diagnosed with asthma caused by hayfever, but that was the practice nurse, I'm taking the three of them to the GP on Thursday to chat about it - DD's teacher has said it is affecting her school work and ability to join in at playtimes.

I echo a previous poster - PLEASE don't let it be worms.

Yes it's called post nasal drip, basically it's the mucus going down the back of the throat and irritating it.

have you tried a mild anti-hayfever thing like Piriteze syrup? have found it amazingly effective for snouts and eyes.

A lot of apparent colds turn out not to be.
