My 3yr old appears to be allergic to suncream. I have tried sveral different makes but he breaks out in a nasty rash every time, which he then scratches until it bleeds! Does anyone know if there is an anti-allergy type one I could get?

I have used one from Australia that you can get online for mine when they had excema when they were little. They didn't have bad excema, but they never reacted to the sunscreen and it worked well. It is called sunsense. Get the toddler milk, as it is thinner and absorbs easier (also easier to apply).

I also use the sunsense range, tho mine don't have allergies it was recomended by my friends father who is a consultant dermatologist. They have a specific facto 50 anti allergy one ( as well as the toddler mill ) that friends whose children have bad excema have had a lot of success with. I use this one too as like the lack of chemicals etc. I buy it online but you cam sometimes get in the larger boots.

I this still reacts your only other option is the organic mineral sunscreens like green people, dr haushka etc but the probl I find with these is that as they are just a
mineral block, no chemical sunscreen I don't think, they are effective but can be very thick, White and hard to spread ( and messy! )

Dare I suggest that if you are in Britain you might be best ditching the sunscreen and covering him up with linen clothing and wide brimmed hat?

There is certainly no need for factor 50 imo, learning to control exposure, covering up and utilising shade is far more effective, and still allows maximum vitamin D potential

Excellent, thankyou so much, will definately check out sunsense and the back up sites. Knew MN would help and save me a drs trip!

MCTH - if only!!!!! Neither of mine will tolerate even a normal hat and strip off at the first opportunity! sun shades are equally shunned. Factor 50 is the only way in this house

thanks again x
