Should dd2 go to the doctors today?

When I was at work last night, DH was texting constantly in a panic about dd2. Apparently she was sleepy, hot and complaining of ear pain.

He gave her Calpol and she came round. NHS Direct said leave her for the night and ake her to the doctors today.

She has had a long sleep today and didn't wake until midday. But because of the fuss last night she didn't go to bed until after 11pm, so she has had about 13 hours. Which is unusul for dd2, but not unheard fo if she is feeling peaky or has been tired for a few days.

She has had a very, very busy few days and was tired all of yesterday, but running about all day with her cousins.

This morning she eaten fine. She is not hot. She is playing noisily and happily in the living room as we speak. She has not mentioned her ears. When I have asked her she says they are not poorly.

Dh is texting from work insisting that I still take her to the doctor. The doctors is quite a walk away from here and it's a nice day. I'd rather go to the park.

My mum saw dd2 last night and said she did appear to be a bit ill, but not as bad as DH was making her out to be. My did not think that dd2 needed a doctor or NHS Direct last night, just some Calpol and a good sleep.

"This morning she eaten fine. She is not hot. She is playing noisily and happily in the living room as we speak. She has not mentioned her ears. When I have asked her she says they are not poorly"

Keep re-reading that. Of course if things change then change your plans but she sounds like she's getting over it. What is he worried about?

He is a hypochondriac at the best of times SOH. Apparently I am a neglectful mother because I don't rush them to A and E at the slightest sniffle.

He tried to get her into the clinic last night but the doctor on the phone over heard her giggling and playing in the background and stated "That child does not sound like she needs urgent medical attention. She will be fine until the morning".

I don't even know what I would say to the doctor if I took.

doc: "What's wrong with dd today?"
me: "Nothing, but DH says she was poorly last night"

He sounds like he suffers from health anxiety. And finds it hard to be rational when your dd is poorly. Does he respond to logic? Tell him her temp is okay, she is happy, eating and playing. There are no signs of illness atm. Reassure him that you will see somebody if she seems to get worse.

I'm always careful with ears as I remember how miserable they made me as a child sometimes but if she's showing all the signs of recovery then all he can do is trust that. Has he had any help with the way he feels about medical things? His fussing and panic won't help when dd actually is feeling poorly and he will only pass on the anxiety.

She rubs her ears a lot when she is tired from habit. It is very possible that mil and DH have convinced her ears were hurting by going on and on and on about them.

Pixie, you need to be referred to OOH and they won't refer her, because she won't be quiet and act poorly while he is on the phone

I'm not taking her anyway. We are off o buy strawberries soon and we shall sit eat them in the park. Apparently she needs strawberries.

SOH I keep trying to get him to agree to counselling about his anxiety about illness. It really does affect his life. But he won't.

Her ears are not red and there is no puss or wax build up that I can see. She is screeching atm, so clearly loud noise does not effect them
