12 week old with tongue tie - is it too late to get it cut?

the reason I'm asking is that initially the tongue tie wasn't a problem, it's only a slight one, as he feeds really quite well from boob and bottle.
He is a very colicy/windy baby and have noticed that he actually gets more windy on the boob than the bottle so I'm thinking that the tongue tie might be the problem.
What do you think?

I'm not sure I can comment on whether the tongue tie might be the windy problem but in terms of whether it's too late...

My DS had his snipped at about 14 weeks - because it took ages to get it diagnosed despite big feeding problems. The first guy that tried couldn't do it because he was too big and wriggly (and so more dangerous in case they cut something they shouldn't) but there is an amazing lady surgeon at my hospital who seemingly did it with no problem at all - the difference was amazing but our problem was pain (me) and poor feeding (him) rather than wind. They said that it would have had to be under general anaesthetic if she couldn't do it. So I guess at 12 weeks it might be possible to do it without GA, depends on your baby and the surgeon.

My DD had a slight Tongue tie when she was born, it snipped itself twice as she started putting things in her mouth, by 10 months she could poke her Tongue out pretty far, by that point I'd say it was normal. (ie wasn't heart shaped anymore). You should get your HV to take a look at it.

Thanks for that, I'll ask about it next time I'm at the doctors or seeing a health visitor

My ds1 had a tongue tie very slight, noticed at birth. It broke on its own like McFlumpy. They said if it effected his feeding badly it might need snipping. He was very windy, but it didn't stop him feeding. I think the wind might be normal, breast and bottle fed babies are affected by it, so if it was me, i'd keep an eye on it, but if it doesn't affect latching on, i'd leave it.
