Hi, poor DS has been diagnosed with Strep today and doc has given me lots of meds to take. No matter how far back I stick that syringe of penicillin he pushes the meds back out. Can I put it in a bit of milk?

I would. Anything to get it down.

My GP told me to.

(But that was over 20 years ago.)

My baby was in SCBU for six weeks and towards the end any meds went in the bottles as he had no tubes by then.

Thanks everyone, that has reassured me... using a spoon when they are very hungry also helps!!! Milk next time though as far less sticky and messy

The only thing to watch is that he then finishes the bottle. I would put the meds in a small bottle to make sure he takes them then fill up with the rest of his milk. Otherwise he will not be getting the full dose.

Good tip ML, as his appetite is down. BTW, pharmacist confirmed that amoxicillin and erythromycin can both be mixed with milk...
