Does food colour effect toddlers poo? (TMI!)

So, just change 2yo dd's nappy and it was red - Visions of hospital tests etc went through my mind. It was a kind of dark red, not blood red IYSWIM.

Then I remembered she had black poo the other which I put down to blueberries.

Yesterday she ate a jammie dodger and red jelly - Would this be the cause?

Im going to avoid anything red today and see what happens tomorrow before I panic more.

Are there any other foods I need to be aware for dodgy coloured poo?

I think any strong coloured food will dye her poo!! Beetroot can make poo very red...

Thank you! Panic over, she has nothing red today so will see what tomorrow brings!!!

Red jelly always used to make for very strange coloured red poo when ds was really small. Thankfully it doesn't seem to happen now!

Why did I not know this?! I was so close to phoning NHS direct this morning!

Its weird how it effects toddlers and then they grow out it!

I remember a blue Spiderman birthday cake having a lovely effect on ds1...

Beetroot is the one that turns wee and poo red. I remember DD having a red nappy and when I mentioned it to DH he was very relieved as had forgotten about its effects and was planning a trip to the docs for his red wee......

The other thing that turnd poo different colours is play doh thats been ingested.....
