Two year old just developed what looks like cradle cap

Over the last few weeks I have noticed my DD appears to have developed cradle cap.

She never had it at as a baby, is it common to develop it when older? I have read that oil on scalp and picking it off (YUCK!) helps but she won't sit still for long enough for me to actually make any inroads into removing it.

Is there anything else I can use and is it likely to have been triggered by a new shampoo or something like that?

My 7 year old Nephew still has cradle cap. He's had it from being a baby and it's never gone away.

Could be a shampoo reaction. Have you tried Dentinox shampoo? You use it just like ordinary shampoo and it helps to soften and remove it.

Don't pick it, you could start a scalp infection! Just brush with a soft brush to remove.

my dd had this and it was eczema. We got hydrocortisone to put on it. I would go to your gp / nurse led walk in centre

Will get some Dentinox, thank you! Doctor was the one who told me to pick it off... Very happy if that isn't necessary though.

I thought it was more likely to be eczema as I suffered from it as a child and still do to a lesser extent as an adult, think I might go back and ask for a second opinion.

My 2 had cradle cap until they were at school. The only thing that ever worked in both cases was using 'Head and Shoulders' a few times. Zapped it and it's not come back.

Don't pick it!!!!

Sorry, that's all I have to offer

My 2 also get it (3 & 5), horrible dark yellow stuff.

I use almond oil to soften it, then brush out.

My ds got this for second time at 18 months and pharmacist told me it often happens as newborn then again when their adult hair starts to grow in

HTH

btw I loved picking it all out [dirty bitch emoticon]
