my sis, colleagues at work, kids next door have had this bug thing.

bad diarrhea, vomiting and cold symptoms.

anybody had this, what is it and how is it spread.

i am an emetophobic, so have been keeping my dd away from kids next door(at least 3ft).

how are these things spread and should i be worried about her standing near the kids next door.

This is called gastroenteritis. Probably viral so antibiotics (the bacterial one is more severe and might contail blood in stool) will not help. Onken yogurt with live bacteria is very good to eat during gastroenteritis. You need to wash your hands well. Once the vomiting and diarrhea stops the person is still contagious for about one week. My kids had it in April. It was an awful time. They still have stomachaches. You can find lots of infor on the internet about the gastroenteritis (in this case looks like norovirus and rotavirus)

My kid got it in the nusery but not everyone had it, just a few people. Also some kids had it in a mild form and the parents brought them to the nursery 1-2 days later without telling anyone about it. It is easily spread with sneezing, coughing but then it also depends on a kid as some get some not. When my older kid was ill he did not go out, he was that week.
Also, with gastroenteritis you should not have ibuprofen as it will cause more diarrhea.

do you think it will help if keep distance from kids next door, she hadn't seen them on tues and wed, but thurs morning she stood approx 2ft away and then the mum says "don't get too close as they have been sick etc". bit late then though.

did you get after your little one had it.

i know one of the ladies i work with her grand daughter had and ended up in hospital with it, her daughter also had it and was really poorly now she has and has been signed off.

can you breathe this in, or just ingest the paticles.

You can end up in hospital if you are dehidrated. When you vomit you should drink water, tea (mint) every five min, one spoon (increasing later) only. More liquid makes you vomit more.

I do not know whether you can get it from breathing. May be it is spread like a viral cold. That is why it recommended to catch and bin it and wash hands with soap. If you are in the same room, next to each other then there is a chance of getting it but an ill person like that should stay at home.

my sister is a nurse and was sick in the toilets on the ward and both me and my colleagues work in a hotel/restaurant place. Needless to say but she has been signed off for at least a week.

my sister caught it from work and think all the kids have given it everybody else round here.
