Maybe this is a silly question. My DS is 1 and he absolutely loves bouncing around on our bed with me, with me dropping him a (very) little distance onto the bed and bouncing the mattress while hs lies on it, etc. He laughs and laughs and I enjoy it as a way of playing together and letting off some steam when I pick him up from nursery.
But I was reading about concussion nd how it can be caused by falls and shaking as well as banging the head on a hard surface and I am wondering if I should still do this.
I am just being silly? Can I cause concussion without knowing?

Is a very little distance 4 inches (fine) or four feet (dangerous)?

'Little distance is very subjective.

Bouncing him on the mattress = fine imho. he's one, not 1 day old. 1 year olds are fairly robust little creatures.

Sounds fine to me. A little bit of rough and tumble is good fun so long as you're not throwing him against the walls and expecting him to shake it off.
I used to do the same with DD, she still likes to be chased up to bed every night shrieking with glee all the way and then 'attacked' with tickles when she reaches my bed.

Few inches Colditz. Suspected it was too vague when I wrote it! Literally me sitting and holding him, then plopping him down.
Thanks for your reply. I know he is sturdy and my instincts say he is fine and we are just playing but when I read stuff it makes me think.

at throwing him against the walls.
Think he will be like your DD as soon as he can run, he already loves being chased on al fours.

when we were in hospital with what seemed like a tiny fragile hours-old PFB we were told by the MW that barring accidents it would be difficult to hurt DS unless we were trying to. That gave us a lot more confidence to hold him/bath him/play with him etc.

Bed bouncing is fine under supervision have many more happy hours.

This is easy to Judge..... if your child is enjoying it, then that is a good sign. It is important to expose a child to "potential danger" at an early age. It teaches them how to handle risk and to move forward in the face of it. It is a good life tool. Controlled Horseplay is a need for all children at 4 months plus.
