Yes. IIRC it was one big(er) one in each leg and a tiny one. I was a bigger wuss about it than DD. Also cried more than she did

SO happy to have had the pertussis one though! I picked up whooping cough when I returned to work because I was not up to date on the jabs (who knew?) and suffered horrific coughing for two months (ie, violent coughing fits to the point of vomiting)! DD still managed to get a mild case in spite of jabs and would cough in the night for weeks. I shudder to think what it would have been if she didn't have her jabs. I couldn't bear for her to go through what I did.

Also good for the meningitis one. Salmonella can easily turn into fatal meningitis in under-fives.

Actually, it's easier to have them done in one go than drag it out, like removing a plaster.

Put an Emla patch on the top of thighs about an hour or maybe it's half hour for 4 mo - it won't hurt then.

Shaz10 · 03/05/2010 22:04

Son had these and cried for about 2 minutes. It's not as bad as it sounds.

bubbleymummy · 03/05/2010 22:12

Ttbmp, you can spread them out if you would feel happier. They are only guidelines. I personally wouldn't want 3 injections at once, never mind giving them to a 4 month old so I totally understand your concern.

tryingtobemarrypoppins2 · 04/05/2010 11:13

Is Emla cream available over the counter?? Would make ME feel better!!

It is in France. Don't know about the UK. Just ask at the chemist's. It really works wonders but you have to read the notice and make sure you put in on for the recommended amount of time, otherwise it won't work as well (so you should factor in the usual waiting time at the doctor's).
