Ear wax - ear candling

My daughter has been suffering from some loss of hearing owing to ear wax...we took her to get her hearing checked as we were a bit worried about 8 months ago, but they said she was fine and sure enough, her hearing did improve. Her hearing is now back to being quite dull again, and doctor says she is suffering from lots of wax in 1 ear and 'glue' ear in the other. He has given me almond oil drops which we've been using for weeks with no progress. He has also given me decongestant which i should be giving to her 2 times a day for a couple of months, but to be careful as it can make 1 out of every 15 kids 'high'...i'm not sure about this, so i've not started the decongestant yet. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard anything about 'ear candling' which is a way of getting rid of excess wax? I'm not sure if this would be recommended, but not sure what else to do about poor DD ear (doc mentioned they don't syringe kids ears now, and even mentioned gromits, which i'm thinking is a bit much)...any advice appreciated.

I have tried ear candling on myself as I have loads of ear wax making me quite deaf in left ear! I'm not sure it was very effective - a small amount of wax is removed but not enough to make much of a difference. Also my ear seemed to ring a lot after the treatment.
