10 days ago, DD1 (3.3) had a poo that she said was sore (I was there and she was fine then suddenly flinched and got scared as she had the poo). She's been really scared to poo since then, holding it in for a couple of days whereas she's usually regular as clockwork once a day.
I guessed the sore poo made her bottom sore and maybe even a little graze/cut. There was a tiny amount of blood on wiping once but not too much so we again thought that, by holding in poo, she was having big poos which opened up the little cut again maybe?
Today another poo (first in 2 days) and there was quite a lot of blood on the paper when I wiped (like dabbing a spot that you've picked, but not pouring). I had a good look for the first time - I can see a little red line which looks like a cut. There was a bit more blood when I dabbed at it but now it's okay.
She didn't react too badly to the poo (though initially not keen because she remembers the sore poo) and didn't flinch at me dabbing her bottom.
Anyone with experience of this? I am wondering whether it's worth seeing hte GP? And since we wouldn't be able to see anyone til Tuesday anyway, is there anything we can do to help this cut heal? Anything we should be looking out for?
Is it just a case of having to wait til it heals? How on earth can we persuade her to poo more often (believe me we've been trying)? Should we try to alter her diet? I don't think she's constipated as such, just holding it in when she clearly needs to go so obviously this makes things worse.
