DS hates Calpol and Nurofen - any alternatives?

My 7mth old DS does not have a sweet tooth and hates Nurofen and Calpol (he vomits when given either). His teething is getting quite bad now (3 on the way at the same time!) and I'm desperate to give him some kind of pain relief (already taking Ashton and Parsons powder). Can anyone suggest any alternative medicine that isn't so sickly sweet?

They are all sweet to cover up the bitter taste of the medicine unfortunately. You could try generic instead (very cheap - you can get them in the pound shop).

But I would try giving it to him in a series of smaller squirts rather than a whole syringe/spoonful at once too and seeing if that helps. Very much doubt that a 7MO has a particularly developed sense of taste

try boots own versions. have you tried teething granules? Handy sachets you can keep in your bag when you're out.

DD age 6 refuses Calpol and Nurofen, and after years of tearing our hair out we discovered paracetemol suppositories. Genius invention! She doesn't like it too much, but gives in much more easily than she would to oral medicines. I imagine they would be very easy to administer to a 7 mth old.

paracetamol suppositories are very expensive. about £13 for a pack of 10 unless you can manage to get them abroad somewhere

we got ours on the nhs because ds2 had oral hypersensitivity. might be worth asking the GP although I don;t know if age makes a difference. ds2 was 3 when we first got them. Agree with VerityBrulee they are a fab invention and we got all his medicines at that time in suppository form.
