Low body temperature - is this normal?

My daughter is nearly 18 months old and her core temperature (when taken in her ear) is always about 35.8c. Sometimes during the night it gets down to about 34.4 and the other night it was 33.2. Has anyone else had this experience with their child? We are seeing a paediatrician tomorrow (she has been very unwell for about 9 months) - is it worth mentioning these low temperatures?

Worth mentioning, definitely. FWIW ds2 always runs about 1 degree cooler than dd. So he's usually around 35.4 and she's 36.4. DS1 somewhere in between.

Is very useful to know the usual temp so you can gauge fever. I know technically is 38plus, but for ds2, being 37.4 is hot for him.

Definitely worth mentioning if you're concerned about it.

My ds (13mo) has always had a relatively low temperature, I'd say his normal range is 35.0-36.0 and sometimes it has gone down to 34.5, and if it's above 36.5 he is really hot as if he has a fever even though that's considered a "normal" temp. I do wonder sometimes if it's the thermometer (also an ear one) reading low as he seems perfectly fine and the doctor when I mentioned it said nothing to worry about. But as I said if you're worried you should ask - for reassurance if nothing else

If a child is well the temperature is pretty much irrelevant. If they are unwell it can be an indication of an underlying problem. eg. low thyroid function causes low temp. tiredness, dry skin/hair etc. so worth a mention.

When my son was that age, he too used to have a very low body temperature. He also had some respiratory issues. We used to co-sleep. Or rather, he slept, I kept awake, as he would sometimes stop breathing and I would have to nudge him. Very scary for me, but he is now a very happy and well 4 year old, and his respiratory issues and his low body temperature is a thing of the past.
