Hi,

Unfortunately I seem to have researched this to the point of scaring myself half to death!

My son is 12 weeks old and showed a tendency to prefer laying on the right side of his head. Unfortunately he has now become very flat on this side and we have tried repositioning with no effect. He can move his head to the left but doesn't seem to like it. We've been trying to keep him off his head as much as possible but when it's unavoidable we've put rolled up muslins under the flat side to try and prevent it from getting any worse.

I have booked him an appointment with a cranial osteopath to check him over as he is also excessively sick and has trouble feeding sometimes. I had a very difficult labour and am worried that it all might be interlinked.

Please tell me though, am I over-reacting as a result of the dreaded internet research I've done? Or is this something which could potentially end in misery for him (either aesthetically or neurologically)?

Am I an over-worried mum?

See what the cranio says but the sickness/feeding trouble and a difficult labour sound familiar. I once cared for a baby who had a degree of neck compression after a rough labour, 3 sessions over 3 weeks of cranio saw a complete change about in him.

Will DS stay on the left if placesd on his left side for short periods?

this memory foam pillow or the lovenest on the link below will help.

but see what the cranial osteo says too, should help.

Thanks guys,

MoneyNoPockets, he won't stay on his left side very long, no matter how much I prop him. He has an amazing knack of wriggling back to his right.

I think it'll be totally worth it to take him to the cranial osteo at least for an initial assessment.

amidaiwish - Thanks for the link. I'll get me one of them! xx
