Possible reflux, but bad enough to phone HV? + dry skin question

My 6 week old DD is showing signs of reflux, but not to an extent I would call serious (judging by some of the things I've read here).

Since day 1 she's been difficult to wind. She also possets and blows bubbles a lot, often sounds wheezy and can arch and get a little panicky at feeds, but otherwise generally enjoys a feed. (I bottle feed, btw - don't judge me on this. I did try BF but it just didn't work out). Anyway, I mentioned this all to the HV about two weeks ago and she said not to worry unless she projectile vomits. Well, yesterday she projectile vomited and was impossible all evening/night... would not settle if out down and cried for hours which she's never done before.

Do I wait and see if this carries on or do I just get on the phone to the HV? I'm one of these people that doesn't like to be a bother, so if this is just normal behaviour I'll wing it. But I don't want to leave it if not. I'd be grateful for outside opinions.

She also has dry, flaky skin on her face - especially her brow line and cheeks. Is there anything I can do to soothe this?

Hi Meandacat. Not much help on the reflux issue (although I did think that reflux would explain a lot of problems I had with DD1). Having not brought my problems up with my HV, I would definitely say talk to her.

Have you tried Vaseline on her face? My DD1 had excema and I found it worked really well, better than anything the GP prescribed.

Good luck with DD (and congratulations!).

Hello, my ds1 is 9 weeks and I second what calm has said, call the HV for the feeding.
I too thought that my DS had reflux, but now I am not so sure. The wheeziness for us has now disappeared, but there were lots of rasping sounds during feeds before this.
It's only in the last few weeks that my has settled down, he is also bottlefed after my failings to BF. Very hard to wind also. We had to go from lvl 1 teats in Dr Browns bottles to lvl2, as I realised that he was sucking for ages and then when i'd put the bottle down to wind him - he had hardly taken any feed. Also he brought his feed up and was sick on a number of occasions but now he seems much more settled.
I got some aquaeous cream from the drs as my wee one has exactly the same oh his brow and down the sides - I've been using that and it seems better xx HTH congrats on your DD xx
