I'm a bad mother. Me and DP had a takeaway last night, I thought I had cleared it away but it seems not all. DD1 (who is 3.1) obviously found the chip container and I found her playing with the empty salt and vinegar bottles and a tray full of salty mush.

I asked her if she had eaten any, she said no, then I said I needed to know in case she needed medicine, she said "yes I need calpol, I ate 12 salt" and held up two fingers [hmmm]

She loves calpol, and is always saying she needs it.

She seems fine, i gave her a big glass of water.

Anything else I should do?

I think that the very fact that she had made the food so salty would have prevented her from eating more then a taste. I wouldn't worry about it to be honest, it would only do harm if it was a regular occurence.

If she is really thirsty, give her more to drink obviously. A one off heave-ho vomit would be pretty normal if someone had eaten an excessive amount of salt. If she starts to look unwell ... persistent vomiting, pale, in pain, etc. .... then go to the doctor. Salt isn't usually that appealing to small children, fortunately.

Thanks for your advice. She was completely fine
