Has anybody encountered anything similar?

To give some background to how this has started -

Approx 3 weeks ago DD had a stomach bug, vomiting for 1 night followed by a day of high temps. Not much appetite for the following couple of days. Nothing too unusual.

About 8 days later, the first episode of a bad tummy ache started. It was after her evening meal, she was tearful with the pain and felt 'wobbly', her legs were actually very shaky. No temperature. She always says the pain is located around the tummy button area.

I felt (and still do) that she is suffering from indigestion and painful trapped wind, as after some exercises and tummy massage she passes a lot of wind and the pain starts to ease!

This is now happening (to varying degrees of painfulness) almost every evening after her evening meal. Always the same as above. She is starting to get very upset by it.

Do you think that it is coincidence that this has been happening along side a bad flare up of eczema? Could it be related in any way? We are quite an allergic family?

Starting to wonder if she is developing a food allergy - does this present as indigestion type pain, followed by bad wind?

Do children get IBS?

Anyway enough questions from me, I will let you wise ladies offer me an opinion?

Thanks in advance , obviously if this continues I will seeing our GP.

Ah bless your poor dd! It does sound like a digestion problem, does she not have it after breakfast or lunch?i find wind is a build up, my dd is almost 1, only little I know but she still has terrible wind and is always afternoon/ evening. Maybe go to gp and ask for some advice. Hope she's better soon

Thank you. After speaking to a couple of other Mums, it seems as though those who had the stomach bug a couple of weeks ago have been suffering in a similar way.

It was a suspected case of Norovirus at their school, an awful lot of children have been poorly - the Health Authority have been involved asking for samples etc (sick face)

Have looked into it a little more and I think if you have had this it can take a while for your stomach to settle.

If it does not seem to be getting better soon I will be going to see my GP.

Meanwhile, if anyone else has encountered similar I would be interested in your opinions. Ta

avoid yoghurts and dairy for a while cos' if her tummy and bowel are still repairing these products can inflame it. Hope it goes soon.

Similiar at our school. My friend's son was like this for 2 months. Dr recommended a gentle diet and smaller portions.

Ok, yes. Good idea re dairy products, she does have milk in the evenings, but she won't mind dropping that for while, especially if it helps.

She definitely isn't eating as well as she was before being poorly. Poor thing, is obviously going to take a little while to recover fully.
