a poo question

Hello everyone, I feel a bit silly asking this but I am not sure if this is normal for his age or not (DS 2.4yo). The consistency of his stools have changed a bit since a while ago, a few weeks back I seem to remember that his poo used to be a bit solid almost like a play dough consistency and now it is more like a soft paste, more like babyish poo than I would expect from a toddler I think. But I am not sure if this is normal consistency or not. He is generally a healthy boy so I am not sure if this is something I need to be concerned about or not. Do you have a child of about his age and would you say this is normal for his age? Thanks for your help

It isn't abnormal to have a 'toddler diarrhoea'. Since he is healthy don't worry about it at all.

Thank you very much for your reply Mears and the link you sent. I have read it and it might be what he has got. I think he eats healthly, cereal or bread in the morning and sometimes followed by a fruit, usually sandwich, soup or a proper meal at lunch time and the majority of days freshly home cooked meal at dinner time. Drinks mainly water and so on. Not sure what I could do differently, maybe give wholemeal bread instead of white? I think I shouldn't worry much but I can't help it

I wouldn't change anything just now. If he is happy ignore it.

thanks for reassuring me Mears. I will leave at the minute then and see what happens, cheers

blue I was about to post the same question as I was thinking my DS (2) should have formed poo by now. He eats and drinks very healthily but huge volumes as seems to have hollow legs

MadameCheese · 18/04/2010 15:26

Reading the link my DS has very soft poo not liquid maybe once/twice a day. My main concern is potty training as I would have thought he may have reduced sensation and not have enough warning.
