My 1 yr old (today) has this, We're on day 3 of spots/blisters.
He has 2/3 on his hands, 2/3 on feet, 1 on lip and some in mouth.

Reading all articles it seems adults rarely catch it.
My sister is 5 week pregnant and is wanting to come to his party tonight.

Would you go or avoid?

Thanks

I caught it from my DS. It was actually quite horrible. Is it meant to be bad if you are pg?

I think she's unlikely to catch it if she doesn't have too much contact with him though.

Did you.. Mmm interesting.

My doc said just carry on as normal as adults don't tend to catch it!

It has a very small risk of miscarriage (as most things do)

I would tell your sister not to come and I am the least neurotic pregnant person ever drinking all sorts, eating soft cheese etc... but I had a miscarriag at 15 weeks after dd3 had hand, foot and mouth..

I'd let her come if she wants to if I were you, I suspect I got it through changing nappies, spending hours cuddling him (he was actually quite miserable with it), etc.

I do think it is quite rare for adults to get it, doctor told me it is not contagious between adults too, and no-one at my work caught it from me, even though I did go to work when I had it.

oops cross post there . Maybe be confusing matters....

SummerLightning · 14/04/2010 11:35

I meant to say maybe I am confusing things now.
Sorry cazzy that must have been awful.
