Our daughter, Gabriela, fell sick 2 weeks ago. She initally developed a high fever, vomiting and severe diarrheao. We took her to the GP, who advised giving electrolytes and Calpol, and that it would pass in a couple of days. The next day, her sickness was much worse, and Calpol was failing to control her fever, so we took her back to the GP, who refered her to the Paediatric A&E at Northwick Park hospital. The Paediatrician there said to continue what we were doing, but that we could also give Ibuprofen to help control the fever. The fever broke after 2 days, and she seemed to get better on the third day. However, from the fourth day her diarrheao started deteriorating. By the sixth day she was pooing every 5 minutes, and not keeping milk down at all. We put her on electrolytes only, but she was rapidly becoming dehydrated, so we went back to the GP to get a private referrel for Dr Eltumi at the Portland Hospital. He admitted her, and put her on IV fluids for 24 hours. He also advised us that she had become temporarily lactose-intolerant, and to replace her formula with lactose-free formula (SMA LF). After she was released from hospital, we started to re-introduce lactose-free milk. This started at 65% concentration, then increased over 2 days to 100%. However, in the last 3 days, her diarrheao has again been getting worse. It now has the colour and consistency of green mucus, and comes whenever she has anything in her stomach, often with as little as 2 minutes between episodes. We had hoped that the diarrheao would improve in the week since she was released from hospital, but it seems to be going in the other direction.
We have seen 5 doctors (GPs), one A&E, and 2 specialists, and no real diagnosis yet.
Anyone has experienced anything like this?
