DS having episodes...any advice please?

DS is 15 weeks old & has had 3 episodes now in 2 weeks. They have all been different and include him screaming & appearing to not be able to open his eyes, crying then going limp, his head moving from side to side with his eyes partly open and glazed over, his arms being thrust upon his head and his eyes bulging and his arms and legs fully extending.

He's had a blood test showing he has low iron but that wouldn't account for his episodes, his urine has been sent away for tests, his ECG was normal and i'm awaiting the results of his EEG.

Since his fit like episode just over a week ago he seems incredibly tired and is sleeping a lot more than normal.

Does anyone have any ideas what it can be? My concern is that the hospital are just saying its one of those things and that if the EEG is normal they wont do any further tests even though he isnt right. Also, how should i go about filming DS to show the hospital, am i best to set a camcorder up over his cot for instance?

Sorry for the mammoth post.

My DGS had minor fits consisting of eyes rolling up and going limp for a couple of seconds, but lots 60-100 a day at its worse. It also came to light he was very anaemic 6.8 at the same time. They also said it was not linked.

Anyway he eventually outgrew them and were no doubt linked to his traumatic birth. Hope your LO comes through them - they are the worst, shittiest things in the whole world (excuse language but hated that time like no other) Good luck to you

Hi, my son has nocturnal epilepsy. His MRI, EEG and ECG s have all been normal. Apparently this is the case in about 40% of kids with epilepsy. The consultant said that they often diagnose through parents' decribing the seizures etc. Definitely try to get the seizures on video. It will help a lot.

We kept a camcorder set up above the bed so that we could grab it. (It was very hard as his seizures are very brief and only come in the middle of the night).

My son was only diagnosed in Jan (he is 4) and it has been very stressful for us (He is fine, mind you!) Anyway, I know how you feel. I hope it all goes well for you and I will keep my fingers crossed.

Oh, meant to add that we are pretty sure that he has had epilepsy since birth. Unfortunately it took 4 years to get a diagnosis (Grr!) but my son is great - tall handsome, bright and very cheeky! Even if your DS has epilepsy, his life can still be great.
