My 22month old developed a very itchy bright red rash on his legs and top of his arms last night and was crying so I took him to the out of hours doc and they diagnosed slapped cheek. It was a very young doctor and I asked if it was definitely that as he had one tiny little red mark on his face but nothing else. He said it was, that he was contagious and to keep him indoors as he would have temps and be unwell with it.
Gave him piriton and calpol. Woke up this morning and its completely gone which suggests to me it was more likely an allergic reaction than slapped cheek? We had been in the park yesterday.
So, if your child has had slapped cheek, did it go very quickly, ie, overnight and was it worse on the lower legs and upper arms with hardly anything on the face?
Am a bit sceptical of doctors from past experiences.
