hi with so much chickenpox going around at the moment i thought id warn you all about cellulitis.
my daughter got chickenpox and was quite mild. My son caught it a fortnight later. He was fine for the first few days, then an hour after going to bed on the 3rd day, he was in a lot of pain. He couldnt move his right arm. Took him to the emergency doctor who diagnosed chickenpox ( which we already knew) said to give calpol ibuprofen & calamine lotion. should be ok in 48 hours. Pain got worse and fever. Poor little boy couldnt move his arm at all.Arm, shoulder and chest swelled up. Took him to hospital, where he was admitted for 4 days. It turned out that he had cellulitis aswell as chickenpox. He stayed in hospital for 4 days were he had antibotics through iv. He is home now, his course of antibotics run out today, his chest is still slightly swollen and still hasnt got full movementin his arm back. Have rang hospital and spoken to his doctor, who wants to see him again thursday. Hes warned us that he may be admitted again.

Apparently cellulitis is quite common with chickenpox. Id never heard of it. I just thought id warn you all about cellulitis

Poor little man My friends DS had this last year, it was a worrying time. Chicken pox can be very nasty esp when associated with complications, it's more common than you think. Hope he gets better soon. xx

Chicken pox also nasty if spots pop up in eyes (not lids) as can cause corneal scarring! Needs anti viral treatment if this happens. Not a lot of people know this Also bad for pregnant ladies

DS2 ended up in hospital with pneumonia, will def get next child vacinated.
NB corneal scarring usually peripheral and not sight threatening and not a worry with chicken pox. But the latent varienty or varicella - shingles can cause eye problems. I wouldn't hesitiate in getting my next child vacinated x
