i'm taking our 3 yr old to the doctor tomorrow but does anyone know what these could be? They're 3 or so pink spots round the front of the vulva that look filled with pus and very sore.↲Thanks!

Could be chicken pox.

My ds has quite a few suspicious looking spots appearing in his nappy area as I type... It is the pox season

looseleaf · 30/03/2010 17:59

wow, that hadn't occurred to me but a friend's children have it. I looked up the spots and they look v similar. Thanks for educating me! I wonder whether the doc will confirm. No symptoms otherwise

My ds is approaching 3 years old. He has a few more spots appearing on his trunk now. He seems fine otheriwse - a little bit listless off and on but at the moment he is sprinting about chasing his sister so not obviously poorly.

Loss of appetite is another early symptom...
Hope your dd is ok.

My DD has just had that. Doctor said it was some kind of infection, prescribed her some antibiotics and gave us some cream to put on them. Can't remember what it was called though, except the nurse didn't know what it was, but the doctor did straight away, so if the nurse is not sure - be sure to get a second opinion, because we were going back loads before we finally found out what it was.

Looseleaf - don't forget to warn the surgery when you get there that it might be Chickenpox - we were put in a sideroom so we didn't infect anyone in the waiting room!

looseleaf · 30/03/2010 20:17

thanks Mrs Fred, i wouldn't have thought of that. And Ellokitty if DD doesn't have chicken pox i'd love to know what yours had . Thinking about it Dd is eating less than normal and in fact just refused supper.

How did you get on Looseleaf? Was it chickenpox?

looseleaf · 31/03/2010 14:26

A bacterial infection the doctor said! There were more spots this morning spreading to DD's legs and back and more still this pm but the only ones with pus are the original ones. He's prescribed antibiotics. So touched you asking as just came to update! Thanks (and the receptionist was glad i mentioned chicken pox possibility as put us straight in doctor's room)

I wish i had the name of the bacterial infection though if it has one as my pregnant cousin v nervous of seeing us for Easter despite the doc assuring me dd not contagious! It does look exactly like chicken pox to me so i would feel anxious to expose her in case and in fact one spot on dd's face does have pus i.ve remembered...

Looseleaf, if you do find out the name, can you please post it up - as the description you give is exactly the same as my DDs spots (even down to the description of the pus!) and given you've been given the same treatment it sounds pretty similar. I'd like to know the name of it too.
