help - does this sound like a seizure?

DD, who's 2, had an episode yesterday at nursery. Her eyes rolled and she fainted, and then she was awake but not very responsive for about 10 mins. She peked up fie after that. She has a bit of a cold at the moment, and was apparently qite thirsty yesterday too.

DP took her straight to the docs, who said that kids faint all the time, but the nursery haven't seen this before....

Am very worried...any helpful thoughts welcome

Did she have a temperature? Febrile convulsion?

Runningwithscissors · 24/03/2010 11:03

Thanks Carmen, but no she didn't have a temperature...

sounds harmless my ds did similar thing at 4. Very still unresponsive then projectile vomited. Gp said poss seizure but as never happened since theres no concern. My cousin also had the same at 15 and never since.
Would only test seizure activity if repeated episodes.

Hope all well at GP on friday.

she's not breath-holding is she? it's quite common, but nursery should have seen it before - most have experience of a breath-holder or two!

could have been a sz, but maybe not. keep a record and mention it to the gp if you have other concerns.

jallsort80 · 26/03/2010 22:35

yes your right breathe holders forgot about those!!! Very common especially in new environments or when concentrating the child simply forgets to breathe for a few seconds!!!
