DD 16 months sleeping after a bump on the head earlier. That's ok, isn't it?

DD2 was right under my feet when I turned around about an hour ago. I stumbled against her and sent her flying. She bumped her head against the edge of the island unit in the kitchen.

She was upset for a little while. She has a bump and a little cut near the top of her head.

She cheered up after a while and had a quick breastfeed and played with her sister.

She seemed tired a bit earlier than usual so I put her in the buggy and she went to sleep.

There's no need to worry is there?

As far as I'm aware even with bad bumps they now think it is fine if a child wants to sleep.

I am a bit worried and feeling very guilty about pushing her.

Poor dd.

Bless you, I'm sure you guilt is worse than necessary - we all do these things.
In my opinion - yes it is ok to let them sleep, as long as they were alert after the incident.
Best thing is to just check them regularly.
HTH? x

i'm sure its fine to let them sleep. you should try to rouse her every 20 mins or so...even if its just a tickle under her foot to see that she reacts, or touch her face and watch her swipe at you iykwim...just so you know she's ok.

poor girly, and poor you!

Does she usually sleep at this time?

You need to make sure she is rousable and reacting normally. If she isn't then you need to take her to hospital.

You can always phone NHS direct to ask advice.

Yes. She usually sleeps around this time, although she did go to sleep a bit earlier than usual.

She is rouseable, I just checked on her.

I think I will ring just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for all the helpful advice.
