Just needing some poo advice!

DD 11 months has had runny nappies for a couple weeks now. Not really multiple dirty nappies in a day, just one sometimes, but very messy and lots of leaks! (although saying that.. in the middle of writing this No3 of the day came along!) I initially thought it must be teething, but have heard mixed comments that teeting is not responsible for runny nappies. She is not ill, is eating OK at nursery and most of the time at home and is very playful land alert. I phoned the doctors today and had a telephone consultation and they did not seem overly concerned and just asked to drop in a stool sample to check and just to continue with her regular meals and milk.

The nursery are now refusing to take her back until she has a solid poo. Am just concerned though if this is not a stomach bug and she has developed an alergy to something (her diet has not really changed since started weaning) then they will just continue to be runny.

Not sure whether to continue with regular meals and her milk - would be good to hear what others do.

PS sorry if lots of typo's in this a bit distracted!!

You should try toeliminate wheat and gluten products and see if it is any better. I know that they do the heel prick test but I was told that you can often get a false negative reading if your baby has not been exposed to wheat/gluten products.(no baby has at 2 days)
Baby rice is a good alternative.
also I would say that if you look at how much dribble comes out of their mouths when teething - especially the big molars - ..at least twice as much must be consumed and all that glooopy goo has got to go somewhere! So teething could easiliy be the problem

THanks Tartan. She is dribbling quite a bit at the moment - if it is teething though, I can't see why the nursery won't take her until she has a solid poo.. it could be weeks!

the sample should rule out all the things the nursery can't complain if nothing comes up in a poo sample!
She's not losing weight?
My daughter had the winter vomiting virus when she 3 yrs, which was accompanied by the runny stuff, then she just wouldn't eat enough to have a solid poo. 3 months later she had finallhy gotten over the virus, but then she was anaemic, had to have a build up tonic form the doctor and poor thing was too frightened to poo because and refused to go for days after she got her appetitie back. 2 years on and we still have "issues" with her not going to the toilet . she is five now.
You could try baby apples, baby rice and baby milk for a few days to give her bowels a break. oddly I was told to stick to low fibre foods during her sickness. I hope this helps.
