Ds was prescribed some for his d and v bug but they don't tell you how often to dose.
Any ideas?

As much as he will take - little sips, often

jambomum · 15/03/2010 16:49

can I ask you how long DS has had bug and how old he is?
My 9 mo DD has had bug for 3 days now and shows no signs of getting better. I have started giving her rehydration salts today, but am worried about how long I should let this continue before I take her to GP.

Does anyone have recent experience of this horrid bug, that they can help me?

I bought 124 nappies this morning - just in case !

He got sick on Thursday.
We went to dr on fri as I didn't want a crisis over the weekend.
He seemed to think anything up to a week was normal.

Tbh tho I'm always keen on going to dr just to be safe.
Depends on how much fluids they're keeping down too.

Ds is eating a bit and hasn't been sick since yesterday am but nappies are grotesque!!!!

Thanks Mrsflux, I'm really worried, as DD is only 9mo and really can't keep anything in, one end or the other.
Have put her to bed because she's exhausted from all the pooing and puking (and so am I).

I just wish there was something I could do to make her better.

But I came on here and read about the MN with the DC with meningitis and a lump in his head and realised a) how lucky I am and I shouldn't be so worried by my current problem and b) how I would ever begin to cope as she is with such a dreadful illness and the prospect of the unknown.

Let's all just thank our lucky stars and stock up on wipes, nappies and hand gel !!

Yep cracked bleeding hands from obsessive washing up are a small price to pay.

On the plus side his last nappy was a lot more normal. Not holding my breath tho.

Best of luck. I'm hoping for a full nights' sleep, as I'm sure it'll all seem much easier to cope with in the morning.

If it helps, my 15 month old had this a couple of weeks ago and ended up being checked in paediatrics casualty for dehydration where the paediatrician told me to aim for 10 ml every ten minutes, in doses of 200 ml and giving it for 48 hours. DC didn't like the taste and only managed 40 ml the first hour but apparently that was good enough, particularly if the DC is managing to keep it down.

Hope your babies are better, it's horrid.

We're on day 6 now with DS who is 7 months. He hasn't vomited today and we have only had two leg fillers. He won't take the dioralyte at all so has been having weak formula.

Its his christening on Sunday and I have been panicking about one of the other two or my or DH getting it, but so far so good.

Poor things.

mrsflux · 16/03/2010 19:43

I think (touching wood and crossing self and holding breath) we might be out of the woods.
No v for 48h plus. No d for almost 36h.
Way less clingy.
He ate a normal tea too.

Do I send him to nursery tomorrow so me and dh can spend his birthday together????
