Would you be happy for your child to have 4 jabs in one go?

We have fallen a bit behind with ds's innoculations. Also we live overseas so there are a couple of extra he needs.

Initially we were going to do 3 or 4 trips and space the injections out so he never had more than 2 at any one visit. However, the Paed assures me that the 1st 4 can all be had at the same time without any adverse affects.

I thought we might as well get it over with - if he's screaming about 2 injections he might as well scream about 4. Do you think?

I'm getting cold feet and wondering if I'm a horrid mummy. He has to have all of them, it's just a question of how many visits we take to get them.

Better to get it over with? 4 in one go tomorrow?

Or better to have no more than 2 at a time?

Eeek. My poor baby. Playing happily with his beads and no idea what tomorrow has in store for him.

I agree I would stagger them if it were me. I would personally also go for the chick pox, I know a lot of countries do vax against this as the virus that causes it lives in your body forever and has been linked to triggering other illnesses later in adulthood. However true this is I don't know but it's a nasty thing and I would happily let my dd have it. How old is your dc? X

Bring a lolly or chocolate buttons to distract the 4yo, works a treat in my experience!!

MaMight, Glad you got the first two sorted at least! We have the same problem, live abroad and have to have everything done at once when in the UK. Personally I would have as many done at once as the paed recommends is safe, because when you have to keep going back in such a short timespan they really know what's coming by the second and third trip, and it becomes increasingly difficult.

Lljkk's tip about chocolate buttons is an excellent one - they deserve a bit of choccie after all those jabs!

I feel for you (and even more for them!). Good luck getting them all up to date.
