long story which i will try to cut short..DS got mmr jag, a week later he started reacting to it, then got an throat and ear infection. he was prescribed antibiotics which he has just finished. the next day i thought he might take an asthma attack as he was coughing and wheezing so we took him to yorkhill childrens hospital to get checked over by a doctor. They xrayed him and found the infection spread to his lungs so we were advised to multi-dose him on his salbutamol inhaler every 3-4 hours along with his antibiotics 8.5ml of paracetamol and diflam (numbing stuff) for his throat. we were concerned he wasnt drinking so the doctor told us it was probably due to his sore throat we would have to push fluids,we should use a syringe to do it if he wouldn't drink.
a week later and he still isn't drinking of his own accord. we have to pretty much hold him down and put a syringe in his mouth, its barbaric and i hate doing it! he has a really bad cough and has made himself sick last night and tonight coughing.
this cant be right can it?? the antibiotics should have taken away his sore throat? what do i do? i'm sick of holding him down to get fluids into him, its not right, and i feel guilty as hell doing it.
any advice or help would be great!
