Do I take DD2 back to docs?

Since last monday she has not been quite right, bit of a temp, slightly loose poos, runny nose, lethargic. She would be fine one morning and we would go out and then in the afternoon she wold suddenly fall asleep and be all ill looking again.
A week ago she had a massively high temp which I managed to get down and on saturday I took her to the out of hours doc as she woudln't eat/drink/wee as she was so sleepy. The journey woke her up, he said 'just a virus' and she perked up some after a drink.
Yesterday she had 3 squitty nappies, this morning another and now she has very small red spots just on her face.
Should I take her back for a check over as it has been going on so long? If it is a virus it should have gone by now right?

Oh please, I have such a bad head/temp and feel crappy as well so I can't make the decision. She's 2.6.

Take her back. You are worried, and unsure, and you are ill - you need at the very least someone else to say "it's ok, you are doing the right thing" and maybe more. It may just be viral but you need that reassurance. I hope she is ok

I have a 3 year old that has had the squits and now developed some spots. Can't decide if might be chicken pox or not? Best phone surgery and ask advice, they might not want viral stuff (pox or otherwise) floating around. My DD seems to be on the mend apart from the spots, so am not taking her, but if yours is still poorly then I'd at least seek advice.

JackBauer · 11/03/2010 09:04

Mine had the pox just after new year so I know it isn't that. just don't know what it is.
She seems okay now after having had some breakfast but I had DD1 off school yesterday as she had horrible temp and was la=ethargic and I feel like poo.
noteven, I think that is it, DH is really busy at work and barely seeing them atm so he doesn't know, and my brain is not working!

FFS. No appts until 5.30! so now we have to mooch around the hosue all day and then have a mad panic at tea time to have tea early and then do that, get stuck in all the rush hour traffic and back in time for bed at sensible hour.
ugh. wankers.

take her back.

if she were mine, I would....and the fact that you are posting says that you are worried, and worried mummies need to see docs IMVHO.

might still be just a virus (god, I hate that word), but equally, it may not be, and you need to ensure that before the weekend.

psychomum5 · 11/03/2010 09:14

x-posts.

ok then. You now have all day to be sure she does indeed need to be seen.

if she now perks up before then, then you know she is ok after all.

and if not, well, you have her seen.

win win

well, not really, win win would mean not having a poorly DD2 at all......but I figure YKWIM.

blinks · 11/03/2010 09:24

are the spots blanching? any light sensitivity/neck stiffness?

JackBauer · 11/03/2010 09:25

IKWYM. She has perked up already but she keeps doing this, normally after food. So I don't know whether to give her tea before we go, in shich case she will be fine at teh docs, or give them a big snack at 3ish and tea when we get back (we normally eat at 5). Ugh. And then I have to drag DD1 along with me as well.
it's enough to make me want to go back to bed!
Bedtime is at 6, by half 5 the surgery will be running late so I can't see me getting home much before half 6, aaagh. Fuckers have only been open half an hour when I called and ALL the appts have gone!

if she's perked up, can stand the light in the room/watch TV etc/is eating & drinking/ ok being touched, it does sound like a virus and nothing to be too concerned with.

JackBauer · 11/03/2010 09:49

No light sensitivity or stiffness, not worried about that, the spots are like normal dirty face spots. probably cos she keeps wiping snot all over her face

JackBauer · 11/03/2010 10:00

She is all that blinks, and I only took her in on saturday as she wouldn't wake, it's just been going on for so long now, nearly 2 weeks, that I just want her checking over my someone who isn't trying not to fall over/throw up/fall asleep all day

I would take her JB - it's gone on long enough. Little ones don't always have obvious signs like a full on meningitis rash - but still worth taking her. Be kind to yourself - and do what your gut says re: tea. Could you take a snacky tea like cold pizza or carrot sticks, cheese and breadsticks and grapes or whatever you children's favourites are?

blinks · 11/03/2010 11:34

it really doesn't sound like meningitis (am advisor at NHS24)so don't panic but obviously get her seen in you're concerned.

JackBauer · 11/03/2010 11:39

Oh I don't think it is meningitis so am not panicking, it's just draggin on, seems like she has been off colour for ages, so I just want her to have a once over but wasn't sure if that was unnecesary seeing as how she was seen (briefly) on saturday.
Am taking her in , will give them early tea and then a snack when they get back I think. PITA appt time though.

try to keep her fluids up in the meantime as she may be a bit dehydrated.

notevenamousie · 12/03/2010 09:04

How is she doing JB? What did they say? Thinking of you.

JackBauer · 12/03/2010 12:16

She's much better todya, still a bit tired etc but not ill.
Doc said her face rash was bevcause I was wiping her face too much bad mummy!

OP posts:
blinks · 12/03/2010 14:20

kudos for being so zealous in your wiping.
