She's had a bad cold, green snot coming out of her nose constantly and chesty cough since Saturday. (so it's the 5th day today.)
we gave her nurofen/calpol, kalvol, steam inhalations in the bathroom, raised bed.
she wakes up several times a night, screaming or crying, then goes back to bed.

Saw the GP yesterday who prescribed penicilin if it gets worse.

This am her eyes were gunky and she just doesn't sound like she is getting better.

We went to get the abs and I'm about to start the course but worried as I know close to nothing about using abs except that people usually try and not use them.

Any advice out here?

I should add that she has had fever but nit high fever.
I think I want to wait a couple more days...

I guess my question really is: Is it a bacterial infection that needs antibiotics if there has not been high fever?
She needed nurofen/calpol every 3-4 hours over the weekend but not I only give it in the evening.

A lot of the time the gps give them as a precaution as it can be unclear if its viral or bacterial. My dd has had bronchilitis 3 times (she is also 9 months) and each time they have given antibitoics, but on the third time I knew they did not work and did not give them to her, which the gp was happy with. He just says its their procedures if there is crackle on lung, but unless that crackle is caused by bacteria, they wont work. I would give it if she hasnt had a course yet in her 9 months, they arent going to hurt.

If it were me I meant to say. PS I always think its rubbish when gps give you anti b's and leave you to decide whether your dc should have them or not. They either need them or they dont! Hope she better soon
