DD 7 months bump on the head

Bloody hell I feel like shite Just stood on my cross trainer with DD slowly going round and round and having a little play which she was enjoying. She was sat on my hip, suddenly leaned back and the handlebar whacked her on top of the head (top of her forehead)

She instantly started sobbing, as did I. She seems fine now. I put a cold compress on it, gave her some Nurofen. What else do I need to do, if anything? I feel sick from worry. She'll be okay won't she?

I have no idea as I am not a doctor.

You should ring a doctor for advice.

How long ago did it happen? Is there a lump?

winnybella · 04/03/2010 19:30

I would think she'll be fine. Babies bump their heads all the time. Foreheads are tough, if it was on the temple, then I would worry, but I really don't think anything serious can come out of it. Watch for the signs of concussion all the same.
FWIW when DD fell of the bed at around the same age ( and it was really dramatic, she shot across the bed and didn't stop at the edge- fell down on the wooden floor straight on her forehead), her paedetrician told me to watch out for all that Pixie mentioned, but not to come in.

I have just rang NHS Direct, a nurse is going to call back within the hour as it's busy, I have to keep her awake until then which is going to be fun!

She seems fine, a little whingy but I think that is just tiredness/being hungry. Her bump has gone down, she is smiling. I just feel so shite.

Thanks for the reassurance

Thanks Pixie it's the first time I have hurt her so I feel like the worlds worst Mum and am expecting some official looking people to see through my walls and knock on my door any minute

She is laughing her little head off now at the mobile on her crib so I'm sure she's okay. I however, need a cuppa with a shot of whisky in it
