Dd2 (who always seems to be ill) has has a high temp since sat (which has now gone down but rises at night) and has a really croupy cough, since yesterday she has been unable to talk and is whispering which sounds painful. She woke at 4am and was struggling to catch her breathe because of phlem in her throat, when she went back to sleep i could hear her breathing. Today she seam's happy but wasn't herself at nursery this morning and her voice has hot worse and sounds more painful.

Should i take her to the GP to check for infection?

I don't want to take her if i don't need to as i don't want to risk her picking anything else up (as she has been ill on and off for 2 months).

Thank you, i don't want the doctor to think i am being paranoid as we have been in to see him once or twice a week for the past months (dd had scarlet fever and then D&V).

I will phone at 1.45 when they open.

I would, simply because she's had a temp with it all and it could be secondary chest infection. Worth checking, but I'm with you on wanting to avoid picking anything else up - I tend to take First Defence (or other) hand sprays with me, and wash hands straight after visit!

Croup/croupy viruses are going round dd2's pre-school atm, she is off sick with one today...no temp, so far, just lost voice and horrible, constant barky cough. Not, weirdly, at night...but then I did give her some Medised.

Hope your dd is better, Marne.
