Fever at least 2-3x a week for a month now!

Hi there ladies,

my ds is 2years and 3months old and he has been suffering with fever usually about 38 degrees at least 2-3 times a week for a month. It started with 3 days of high fever up to 39 and then progressed into a bad flu. The flu is gone now but the fever is not.
We just finished antibiotics on Thu as his blood sample showed some infection somewhere. He had fever on Wed and Fri (yesterday) again. I'm tired of it now as it has been going on for a month now (4x at GP). Every time we say to ourselves It must be the last time and it will be ok and in a couple of days he has fever again! Now after we finished the antibiotics I'm getting really worried as he still has fever. It is mostly in the evening or at night which affects his (and mine) sleep. I give him Calpol or Neurofen and within an hour the fever is down. We have gone through 1 bottle of Calpol and 2 bottles of Neurofen. Surely we can't go on like this forever.
He is quite well otherwise, playing and happy during the day. I have kept him warm and at home mostly, with little outings to the shops just to get him out for a bit.
Has anyone experienced anything similar or has a piece of advice? I would be grateful. Thanks

Is it possible he has glandular fever or similar? QUite rare in wee ones, but possible. Have they checked his liver function to check for infection there? Not necessarily serious by any means, but it would put your mind at ease.
Poor you - it is so horrible when they are poorly.

thanks nicky, I ve read some info about the glandular fever but i don't think it is that. I still might mention it to the GP when we go for a check up though. Thanks for your answer.
