Diarrhoea in 9 month old. Can't change the nappies fast enough

DD (9mo) and DS (3 yrs) both have a bug. DS is not too bad and just vomiting now and then, but DD has diarrhoea. She's had it since saturday on and off and the GP prescribed dioralyte on monday which I am giving to her in a syringe as she won't drink it from the bottle.

Now today, from this afternoon onwards she seems to be constantly pooing, watery yellow, not loads but it is so watery its frequently leaking out of her nappy. As soon as I change her I have to change her again! We have been through 20 nappies today!

She is MUCH happier in herself though, than she was at the weekend. Could this be the bug just flushing itself out? Or the dioralyte going straight through her? Any experience/advice? Thanks!

When my dd had diarrhoea at few months old, the paedetrician said that if she's eating well and not displaying any signs of dehydration ie sunken fontanelle, dry and sunken eyes etc then I can wait for a week before bringing her in.
How watery exactly? Like water or like a milkshake? If the latter, I would go see the doctor if the there's no improvement by tomorrow.

thanks for your reply!
she is eating things well but has been sick 1-2 times each day. No obvious signs of illness otherwise, she is laughing and playing and looks fine.
Stools are very watery though, bright yellow water with flecks. So maybe best to return to docs.....

My two year old has the same thing, since Saturday. He shows signs of improvement then all of a sudden vomits but he's fine in himself.
The runny poo will thicken in due course.
Stay away from all dairy if you can. The best food advice I was given is BRAT:

Banana (mashed with sugar)
Rice (plain boiled)
Apple (pureed with sugar)
Toast

The above replaces many of the lost nutrients and is easy to digest with the least likelihood of causing vomit.
