echinacea for a cough / cold?

My DD1 is 23 months. I have been mildly sick for awhile now and her nose has been [clear] runny. Monday night she was coughing a bit [real deep cough] but was fine in the day. Last night she was OK all night but has coughed on and off this morning. She seems mostly happy - maybe a little more clingy that normal but nothing that would be an immediate red flag.

I was thinking about what I can do for her and I realized my MW gave me echinacea when A was born as the common cold was going around - is it safe to give to a toddler? If so - how much would I give? I don't like normal cough meds as they've never worked for me, but maybe echinacea will shorten to duration / severity of her cold?

I would check by phoning a qualified herbalist.
I gave my DD echinacea as an immune booster after taking the advice of someone in a health food shop. It turns out that it shouldn't be taken by people with epilepsy, which DD has.

My box says children 6 -12 yrs. It has ethanol (alcohol) in it so perhaps not suitable for a toddler.

Ok. My bottle doesn't have a list of what is in it. i think I'll just not risk it.

You can buy children's echinacea from health food shops (maybe big supermarkets too?). Ithink it is suiatbel from 12 months. HTH
