Slapped cheek?

My (nearly) 2 yr old son has been getting a really bright red rash on his cheeks recently. It comes up for about a week or so. It's opnly on his cheeks and it's hot to touch. it's a solid red circle as opposed to red spots.

Is this slapped cheek or something else, as the pictures i've seen of it don't look anything like what my ds has been getting?

Sounds like Slapped Cheek. My DS had very red cheeks and cold like symptoms for about 3 weeks. It got more red if he ran or cried. After it had disappeared, it can sometimes flare up again (normal to do that apparently)although not as prominently. It's highly contagious but mostly doesn't have any side effects.
Copied this from another site telling about pregnant women:
" Pregnant woman are at a small risk if they haven't had the virus as a child. At least 50% of women are immune. There is a blood test to check immunity, but it's not 100 per cent reliable. If you're pregnant and have been exposed to slapped cheek disease, check with your GP. In rare cases, the virus can cause miscarriage in early pregnancy."

Has he got all of his teeth? My 18month old has been getting red hot rash type circles (large circles) on his cheeks lately, one day they are bright red and later that day or even the next day or a few days later its back to normal again and then they re-appear. We've just realized that he is getting his upper molars, nappies are very messy and he is not into his food as much as he was this last cpl of days.

Tricky 'cause those symptoms Keeny could also be slapped cheek symptoms. I think Slapped Cheek is less of a stress for little ones than teething though so if they seem to be in pain, it is probably teeth.
