little white blisters

DD1 (2.11) had eczema as a baby, and I think it is coming back in a couple of spots. However, she also has a few (four I think, unless I have missed one) little lumps. They look like tiny blisters, kind of like spots. A couple of times she has said they hurt, but not sure if she is telling the truth (she does tend to make up injuries) Three of the lumps are on her side, and the other is on the inside of her elbow, on the same side, level with the others.

Is this something I should be concerned about, or should I just keep putting E45 on it? They are only about a mm square.

Was going to post an almost identical query.
Ds is 7 and has about 4 of these. on his back, under his chin, behind an ear and above his knee. He says it hurts if pressure is applied (but is a bit of a wimp regarding anything "wrong")

Will watch with interest.

they sound like molluscom contagium.

teeeny tiny wart-like spots, very contagious, but harmless, and will go in time.

each of mine have had them when tiny, they spread rapidly between them, and then just as rapidly each got one infected molluscom and they went......as tho their bodies recognised them as a nasty virus and attacked them all.

EccentricaGallumbits · 12/02/2010 20:47

molluscs. they often make the skin around them excemaish.

they'll hang around a bit, then swell up and turn into a big pussy spot - at which point it is very satisfying to pop them. then they'll go away.

My ds used to get something like that on his knees.E45 got rid. The ones ds had weren't the same as molloscum which he has also had.

So if they are contagious, should I be bathing her separately from the baby? DD2 is 3mo and exclusively bf (if that is relevant).

Yes molloscum, especially as she has them in ajoining areas. ds2 had his on his side and on his underarm, dd under her chin and on chest. They look a bit like pearly barley;as psycho says they tend to go a bit nasty looking and then go but it can take some time.

If she has excema in the same area be careful what you put on them. I put Fucidin on dd's infected molloscum and her excema flared and when I put her excema cream on, the molloscum got quite nasty.

Yep, those pictures are just like what she has. looks like I do need to bathe them separately, but she is ok to swim, weirdly.

I don;t think bathing her separately would help by now, as IIRC, the chances are the virus will have already passed on. Mine soon passed them between them, dispite me trying all not prevent it. Then again, with 5, it is harder to prevent things being passed about simply due to the fact that they shared rooms as well as bathing them separately would have meant pure hell at bathing times!

They are not dangerous tho, and once caught and fought, you are immune for life, and in one way, your younger DD won;t notice them, and therefore scratch them, as might your older daughter. My DS2 had them at about 4mths, until about 10mths. He did have one scar tho.......he got one on his bum, which obviously when they are in nappies are not a nice place to get them.

EccentricaGallumbits · 12/02/2010 21:10

I caught them from DD1 and passed them on to DD2. Bugger all you can do about transferring the virus as it hangs around for so long.

That definitely looks like what ds has. Thanks very much for your help everyone.
