Worried about 12 yr old son

I am getting really worried about my son as he has been quite poorly for 3 weeks now. He started with the usual bug that's going round and came down with what I thought was the flu. However since then he has got worse. I took him to see our out of hours doc on Sunday who said he had a high temp and to take him back to my GP if no improvement by Tuesday. He has looked very run down, he is very pale, has a really bad cough, is constantly cold and feels very dizzy and sick all the time.

I took him to GP yesterday who said he has a chest infection and has given him antibiotics, however the dizzy spells and sickness seems to be getting worse. Im pretty sure if I take him back to GP tomorrow they will tell me to give the anti biotic's a chance so I wondered if anyone else had suffered something similar lately to confirm this is a nasty bug??
I worry about anything to do with my children but my son has been really healthy and active and it is shocking to see him so low.

If he has/has had congestion then that can cause dizziness and sickness because it can affect the inner ear, i.e. balance.

Secondly, antibiotics can irritate the digestive tract and cause sickness but if he has only just begun them and he was already feeling sick then it's probably not that.

Am not medically qulaified, I just speak from personal experience.

Chance are the antibiotics will kick in soon, but do watch him like a hawk. If he seems to be losing contact with the world (not sure how else to put it) get your GP/out of hours GP/A&E dept to look at him.

I had pnuemonia misdiagnosed by my GP - and if it wasn't for the persistence of my mum would probably not have made it.

Thank you. He said he had earache tonight which could explain it. Although the dizzyness, nausea has been persistent for quite a while now. Pneumonia is one of the things I have been worried about!! He looks so drained at the moment and he is constantly cold. To be honest I dont feel they have checked him over properly and I am worried if I dont shout about it he is going to get worse.
He said (in his words) his head is all swirly when he gets up and he has been constantly complaining of headaches and feeling sick. He could eat for England most days but his appetite is not good at the moment either. Dont want to seem like a neurotic mother but am wondering whether to take him back to Gp tomorrow and ask them to check him properly. When I took him yesterday, I got an emergency appointment, and when booking in at reception was given a card to give to GP stating that it was an emergency appointment and I was limited to 5 minutes!! I think my son has seen a doctor twice in the last 4 years so I dont think its too much to ask for them to check him over properly.
