Bepanthen - a panacea?

I've been using Bepanthen to treat nappy rash and it seems very effective, but DS recently bit me on the nipple and the pharmacist recommended I use it to treat that too (a lot of people recommended Lansinoh, but I'm in Switzerland at the moment and don't seem to be able to get it here). I looked on the Bepanthen website and I can't see anything about using it like this or what the effect of ingesting it might be for DS if I smear it on my nipples. Anyone have any experience? There aren't different kinds of Bepanthen are there, for different uses?

I've also heard that it can be used for eczema/dry skin. DS has small patch of this on his head which he keeps scratching in his sleep (though it doesn't seem to bother him when he's awake). We have tried various sorts of creams but none of them seem to have cleared it up. We try to keep his nails short, but there is always a day when they are too short to cut, but long enough to scratch, when we wake up to bloodstained sheets. Is it worth trying Bepanthen for this? Anyone used it this way?

I have been using Sudocrem and think that it is similar, primary function is for nappy rash but it says on it you can use it for a whole host of things. DD has a sore patch on the back of her neck and I use it on there at night because like your DS she scratches it then. Don't think I would use it on my nipples though as don't like the idea of her ingesting it. When I have been bitten I find air exposure helps the best to heal it.
