Taking DD1 in with me for DD2 jabs - yes or no?

Tomorrow afternoon DD2 has her appointment for her MMR - I don't want to get into the pros and cons for that...

My question is - should I take DD1 into the surgery with me? She is 3.5yo and has her swine flu jab next week - so if DD2 starts screeching tomorrow then will that put DD1 off for next week?

I wonder if it is a good idea for DD1 to know about having her own jab next week - or is it best to say nothing about it until we are waiting for her appointment time in the waiting room next week. DD2 also has her swine flu jab next week - same day - but is the appointment afterwards and DP is taking time off work to come with me.

If I don't take DD1 in with me then I am not sure what to do - I might just postpone the appointment until the summer when DP can take time off.

Ideas? Experiences?

My DDs are pretty much the same age as yours. Here's what happened: DD1 went together with my parents when they got their flu jabs - she held my dad's hand so he didn't cry and was perfectly fine with it all. Very proud to be helping actually.

Then it was her turn for the swine flu jab a few months later; DD2 was ill so couldn't go; she went with her dad and was, I am told, very interested to see the needle go in, had a little flinch, but didn't cry. The week after I took her along when DD2 got the jab, and she was incredibly sweet - holding DD2s hand so that she wouldn't cry and being very caring and telling her it only hurt a little bit. DD2 was perfectly fine too

Not sure what the moral of the story is - but maybe arrange that DD1 can have her jab first and postpone DD2s MMR for a few weeks, as they are usually easily rescheduled

Thank you both - I am thinking I will take her along and just see how it goes. The nurses are generally very nice there - both DDs are preemies so we have spent our fair share of time just having things checked etc -

I have also had a chat with my mum and she told me that she never used to even come in with any of us when we had jabs as kids - and we all grew up dreading injections. She did wonder if the two things were linked.

Good to know that 'big' siblings can cope.

Thanks you.
