Impetigo?

I think dd1 may have Impetigo, she has 2 large spots on her face that look like giant zits (yellow/white in the middle), i sent her back to school today after being off ill and my neighbour/friend just said it looks like Impetigo. I don't know anything about it. Do i need to take her to the gp? Do i need to keep her off school (god, its her birthday party on friday).

It is very contagious. You will need cream from the gp to clear it up. Otherwise, if left, it will spread, weep, dry up, crack, weep again and so on.

What Bella says. Mine have had it. I think it might be antibiotic creame or something you need for it.

You need to wash everything in sight, and as bellavita said, get cream from the GP. She shouldn't go to school really, unless it is covered (bit difficult on her face). Hope you get it all sorted out, and sorry it's her birthday party on Friday - see what the GP says about that?

Take her to the gp tomorrow - we had this and with medicine, it cleared up in days.

Make sure you all use your own towel and face cloth too. Less chance of cross infection once everything has been washed on a hot wash.

Just what i need

What am i going to do, i cant get her to the GP because i am stuck at home with her sister who has a very nasty virus (i cant really take her out), i doubt the GP will give her anything without seeing her and if i cancel the birthday party she will be so upset (and so will i as i will loose money).

Can you postpone the party until the following week? I really don't think the parents of the children invited would be very happy if their little ones caught it.

Just ring the GP and ask if a prescription can be left for you - could you arrange for someone to pick it up?

it can also cause conjunctivitis if left untreated and she rubs her eyes (as I discovered when I was a child )

lots of hand washing, and get thee to geepee.

Managed to get my mum to come over and sit with dd2 tomorrow so i can take dd1 to GP. I'm thinking may be it will be ok to cover it up with a plaster for her party? Its only a few spots on her chin, i know she will look silly but i would rather do this than cancel the party.
