DD is 16 weeks and EBF

she poos a lot - have posted about this before but the lst day or so has been really bad

yesterday she pooed 9 times including 3 in succession between 7 & 8 pm

she was very unsettled last night was feeding every hour and took ages to go down

At 5 am she woke sobbing - wasn't really hungry and did loads of farts and then 3 poos again

i put her down without feeding her nd she went to sleep for until just before 8 am which was the best sleep she had all night

this morning she has already pooed 5 times

it is always green, slimey and runny

have been to the GP and have collected a sample for them and we are going back in 2 weeks

does anyone have any ideas what this could be - it just doesn't feel right to me

TIA

Hello,

I think it could be a tummy bug.
My lo had the same thing in december. From one day to another he started pooing a lot and this kept increasing until he was doing it about 10-12 times a day. It felt like all the milk was just going through him. It didn't seem to bother him much, only when he developed nasty nappy rash. It all last 14 days!

thanks for replying

her poo has been green for weeks - in fact i can't remmeber the last time it was yellow

if she had a tummy bug wouldn't she appear ill?

am so confused about it all

My LO did not appear ill at all (was only bothered by the nappy rash) I went to GP twice, both told me that this kind of virosis(sp?) is common and takes some time in babies to clear. I was told to look for signs of dehydration (dry wrinkly skin, not weeing enough, lack of energy...) They didn't even take a stool sample, which I was quite upset about. Oh yeah, and they gave me a prescribtion for dioraly -didn't use them at all, lo would not take it!)

sasza321 · 03/02/2010 12:48

sorry that was meant to be 'dioralyte'

rubyslippers · 03/02/2010 12:49

sasaza - that is good to know

DD is full of beans and is not showing any signs of dehydration

will see if the stool sample shows anything i guess

thanks again

no probs, I am sure they will let you know if they find anything.
It's worrying, isn't it? I was so worried about him I could not sleep!
One morning he woke up and his nappy was so full it leaked, the poo was almost behind his ears. and there he was, grinning like it was the best thing ever. not bother at all!

Hope your DD will be back to normal soon!

have yo posted about this in the breastfeeding topic? I have a recollection that green poo can be a sign of too much foremilk? I may be wrong, so migh be worth asking over there, especially as its been going on for so long?

rubyslippers · 03/02/2010 13:57

i have Ksal - and was advised to go to GP/HV which i have done

I have tried block feeding to see if it improves the greenness but it is just the same

it is worrying me now as it is not showing signs of improvement
