14 month old went to bed without his usual supper cos of illness - should I give him a bottle in a 'dreamfeed' kind of way?

DS2 always has a bottle of milk and some weetabix just before going to bed but he has been poorly for a few days and, as he had been at nursery today, he was shattered to the extent that, after his bath, he was literally falling asleep on the changing mat whilst I was putting his PJ's on. As I also had DS1 still to sort out, I thought it best just to put him to bed there and then.

But, should I try and give him a bottle in a while or leave him to sleep and hope he doesn't wake up hungry at some unearthly hour??

No, just leave him to sleep.

I would say leave him. His appetite is likely to be reduced due to tiredness/illness. Hope he (and you) have a good night's rest.

You might end up waking him properly if you attempt the dreamfeed. Why not take a drink up to bed with you (for him) just in case he does wake up thirsty.

Mind, I remember when dd2 was small she had a few nights like this, and after about 3 days woke up around 4am absolutely ravenous and desperate for food. I think in our exhausted state (me and dh) we just gave her some crackers or something which she wolfed down.

Thank you for your advice - I will leave him and hope he doesn't wake up.

When he gets colds, they really seem to floor him for days whereas DS1 is the complete opposite and never lets colds bother him at all!!
